The only other option is that nobody gave this Peace-Sign giving man the memo that he's not in the jungle... or his ship JUST docked from "Guilligan's Island" -- or he was an extra in "Lost" -- or he's Tom Hanks' black counterpart in "Castaway 2, Return to the Island."
